Many of my favorite pieces of Ron's are from his sojourn in Italy in the 1960s.
This is clearly not a polished piece, but it is a lovely little sketch that is especially enjoyable when seen in the context of his later paintings from the Italian period.
Swung by his house/studio for a few minutes, recently. He is no longer living there. But every room is filled with his art and treasures and tools of the trade. Unmistakeably his.
Got to see Ron briefly over the holiday. Drank some coffee, and bantered about art and his well-groomed mustache.
You are a piece of work! he told me several times.
One of my quiet pleasures is discussing with him the immense joy of a small cup of coffee. Since I have known him, over the past three years, I have not known him to ever turn down a cuppa joe. Morning, noon, night, the offer always brings a smile to his eyes.
It was good to see him.

Spent the day organizing Ron's house with Gina & Shelley. Dusty and chaotic and interesting. What a man. What a collector. What fun.Even got to shoot some stop motion video amidst the carnage.
